8 ALEX LAZAROW Cathay Innovation United States JOSEFA MARZO Finnovista Mexico JORGE ORTIZ The FinTech Hub Mexico Alex is an Investment Director with Cathay Innovation's San Francisco office. He is also an Adjunct Professor with the Middlebury Institute for International Studies MBA program, where he teaches entrepreneurship. Previously, Alex was with Omidyar Network, a global early stage investing platform, founded by Pierre & Pam Omidyar (founder of eBay), with over $1 billion AUM, and offices across North America, South America, Africa, Europe, India and South East Asia. Alex also has experience in strategy consulting with McKinsey & Co., financial regulation with the Bank of Canada, and M&A investment banking with the Royal Bank of Canada. He is a Kauffman Fellow, CFA Charterholder, and CFR Term Member. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.Comm from the University of Manitoba. Josefa is Finnovista's Country Manager in Mexico. Finnovista promotes the development of Fintech entrepreneurship in Latin America and Spain, building bridges between startups and companies in the financial services industry. Before joining Finnovista, Josefa founded a bank in México, where she was in charge of developing the technology, operations, human resources and business engineering areas. It was there that she developed her passion and vision for technological innovation in the financial sector. Previously, she had been the COO for Latin America at The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Head of Legal of Spain and Latin America at ABN Amro and RBS respectively. Josefa holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and LLM from the Instituto de Empresa. Mr. Ortiz has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector, specializing in private banking, asset management and private equity. Jorge is the Founder of FinTech Mexico and served as the Founding President from June 2015 to January 2018. Prior to his current responsibilities in The FinTech Hub, he served as Vice President at Citi Private Bank New York and as Director of the Private Bank at UBS in New York for Mexico. Since 2009 he has been a Managing Partner of Carpo Capital LLC, a venture capital fund in Mexico. He is one of the Top 5 influencers in FinTech according to Finnovating. He earned a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from UDLA-P, an MBA from IPADE, a Master in Politics and Public Administration from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Master in Philosophy from Universidad Iberoamericana and a Master in Innovation and New Business Development from Tec de Monterrey. JOSÉ GÓMEZ SANTA MARÍA Citibanamex Mexico José has 20 years of experience in the financial services and telecommunications sectors. In the telecom sector, José participated in the process of opening the telephone and internet market as a member of the MCI strategy team, currently Verizon. In the financial services sector, José spent 7 years at Banco Santander in the areas of product and new client acquisition. After Banco Santander, he spent 5 years at CIBanco, the first green bank in Mexico, where he re- invented the brand and launched 5 sustainable financial products. As the Director of Adoption and Strategy Development for Digital Transformation at Citibanamex, José leads initiatives for digital adoption of the Citibanamex Móvil application and works hand and hand with fintechs to improve the digitial banking experience for clients. José graduated from Anahuac University with a degree in business administration and has a master's degree in strategic marketing.
