After CEO Joey Rivera was selected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur in Marrakech, Morocco in 2015, Rivera Group successfully executed on the development and market release of their flagship cyber-security product, Eagle6. The result was rapid growth in the massive and fast-moving cyber industry. However, while this expanding opportunity set created a number of growth paths, it remained unclear to Joey which path he should take. Clouded by uncertainty, Joey sought fresh insights on his future business strategy from a third-party perspective. Having been selected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur two years prior, Joey was allowed to return to an International Selection Panel and present these next-stage growth challenges to a global panel of top Endeavor mentors, also known as a Global Acceleration Panel. Over the course of two-and-a-half-days, Endeavor mentors – including top executives from Morgan Stanley and Bain & Company, the CEO of Kenya Airways, and the COO at Thrive Capital – pushed Joey to not only clarify his future business strategy, but to clarify his ambitions as an entrepreneur and his vision for Rivera Group. They continuously reminded Joey that the entrepreneur is ultimately responsible for dictating the company's vision, which in turn informs the business strategy. Joey was consequently forced to redefine his ultimate ambitions for Rivera Group's future. Finally, after hours of discussion with and prodding from these Endeavor mentors, Joey was able to articulate a focused vision. This vision, in turn, led him to determine Rivera Group's next path, thereby enabling him to optimize the business strategy towards an ambitious, new goal.
