ENTER SEK T, a Fintech company led by Endeavor Entrepreneur Schalk Nolte, raised a new round of funding with partic- ipation from Endeavor Catalyst in October 2017. The investment marks Endeavor Catalyst's first ever in South Africa. The investment will be used to help further Entersekt's expansion into new markets. p THE TR AINING ROOM ONLINE , a digital learning design and development company founded by Kirsty Chadwick, has partnered with the Department of Basic Education in South Africa. The partnership birthed the DBE Cloud, and assisted in the roll out of digital learning into the public-school sector of South Africa. CLOSC A'S newly-released water bottle made of boro- silicate glass encased in a silicone cover won the 2018 Red Dot Award. The inno- vative design company's first product, a collapsible helmet—Fuga—was also selected to be part of the 2017 TED gift experience. ALTO DATA ANALY TIC S teamed up with Smartick to conduct market research to assist in Smartick's U.S. expansion. Jose Miguel Cansado, Partner of Global Accounts and Consulting at Alto, also gave a TEDx Talk on the power of big data and the most important skills data scientists possess. A STI , led by Endeavor Entrepreneur Veronica Pascual Boe, participated in the first talent program with INSEAD, a world-re- nowned business school. INSEAD alumni and ASTI company leaders collaborated in a strategic project focused on growing ASTI Technologies. This year the program is being repeated with a company from Endeavor Brazil. { C ABIF Y, a leading ride-sharing app founded by Juan de Antonio, raised a $160 million round, bringing the company to a $1.4 billion valuation, making it the first Spanish unicorn. Endeavor Catalyst participated in the round, along with Rakuten Capital, TheVentureCity, GAT Investments, Liil Ventures and WTI. The company also grew by over 1100% in employ- ment in just one year.
