I N DON ESIA ITALY p ENDE AVOR INDONE SIA hosted Scale-Up Asia, the largest platform discuss- ing scaling a business in Indonesia, in March 2018. The event included multiple speed-mentoring sessions for startups, and inspiring talks and sessions fea- turing entrepreneurs and business leaders. Scale-Up Asia also featured EE2E, a program designed to help global Endeavor Entrepreneurs access the Indonesian market. SC ALE- UP A SIA 2018 is the largest platform to date catering to topics around scaling up a business in Indonesia. The event was attended by over 1,800 participants from over eight countries, received widespread media coverage, and even became a trending topic on Twitter in Indonesia. M APAN (P T RUM A ), founded by Aldi Haryopratomo, and Kartuku, led by Niki Luhur, were both acquired by GO-JEK, an Indonesian technology unicorn that specializes in ride-hail- ing, logistics and digital payments. This high-pro- file acquisition will accel- erate financial inclusion for millions of Indonesians and boost the country's economic productivity. BUK AL APAK , a marketplace with over 3 million SMEs and 30 million active users per month became Indonesia's fourth unicorn in a 2018 funding round, which included Endeavor Catalyst as one of the inves- tors. Founders Achmad Zaky and Fajrin Rasyid have brought Indonesia closer to the government's target of creating five tech unicorns in Indonesia by 2020. MUSEM ENT, a tech company focused on excursions, tours, and travel activities, has been acquired by German travel and tourism company TUI Group. The acquisition will allow TUI Group to offer 20 million guests per year an expanded holiday experiences portfolio. D - ORBIT, a company led by Endeavor Entrepreneurs Luca Rossettini and Renato Panesi that develops cutting-edge satellite positioning technology, recently signed a contract with European aerospace giants, ArianeSpace. They also announced an InOrbit NOW DPOD agreement with Astrocast for the launch of ten Astrocast nanosatellites. EM PATIC A , a biotech com- pany which develops smart wearable devices to mon- itor physiological signals, received FDA approval for it's smart watch, Embrace. Embrace is capable of detecting the onset of epi- leptic episodes and relaying that information to health workers, making it the first watch of its kind to receive FDA approval. q ENDE AVOR ITALY held its first retreat, hosted in the historic industrial building of OGR Foundation in Turin. More than 50 board members, entrepreneurs and their staff, pipeline candidates, and Endeavor Italy staff participated in the retreat, which featured team building, speeches, workshops and oppor- tunities for networking.
