UAE URUGUAY { ECOCOA ST partnered with The Ocean Cleanup to create the first marine barrier system ready to be deployed in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Ecocoast designed the screen for the 600-meter marine barrier that, at full-scale deployment, has the potential to clean up to 50% of the garbage patch in five years. ENDE AVOR UAE hosted the third Scale-Up UAE 2018, its flagship conference which brings together the region's top entrepre- neurs to share insights, inspirational stories and practical advice on scaling up in the region. This year's Scale-Up included opportunities for one-on-one time with functional experts, and closed-door discussions and workshops tailored to Endeavor Entrepreneurs. MUMZ WORLD, a leading e-commerce platform founded by Mona Ataya, raised its fifth and largest round of funding to date, aiming to continue expanding in the MENA region. The funding round was led by Wamda and Swicorp, and included Tamer Group, Precinct Capital, WSB Holding, Riverbank Technologies and Saned, among others. C AREEM , MENA's leading ride-hailing app, launched an electric car option in partnership with ION, a newly-launched joint venture between Crescent Enterprises, the UAE-based diversified conglomerate, and Bee'ah, an environ- mental management company that is striving for a zero-emission trans- port system in the UAE. RONNIE WOOD, guitarist and bassist for the Rolling Stones, used a Loog Guitar to teach music to his twin daughters in a widely circulated video shared on his personal social media. Loog Guitars, founded by Endeavor Entrepreneur Rafael Atijas, makes fun, easy-to-use, high-qual- ity, three-string guitars designed to teach children how to play music. A SUAN , a technological equipment company that designs tools for indus- trial food production, worked in the design and construction of two major slaughterhouse plants for the governments of Argentina and Mexico. Both projects received an in-person visit and praise by the presidents of the countries. Mauricio Macri, President of Argentina, highlighted on Twitter that the project had already created 500 jobs in the country. ENDE AVOR URUGUAY partnered with Coca-Cola to launch Emprendemos Juntas, a program providing women entrepreneurs in Uruguay with services, mentorships and tools to help them scale their businesses. Over 1,000 women have participated in just 18 months. 100+ have increased their gross revenue by over 10% in just a six-month period. y Y ERR A RUGS , a com- pany founded and led by Santiago Schapira that makes luxury carpets out of natural materials, now feature in high-end brand Louis Vuitton's retail stores in Paris. "Seeing how it came out, in a place with such a high standards inter- nationally, was a source of pride and satisfaction for the whole team," remarked Santiago after seeing one of the store's facilities.
