With more than US$80 million in VC funding and 640 employees, the company is one of the top funded technology companies in Latin America. By using consumers' properties (houses and cars) as a collateral and reinventing the secured lending origination process, Creditas cuts the high interest rates that Brazilians pay for traditional consumer lending. Before founding Creditas in 2012, Sergio was a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group in New York and Madrid, and an investment banker at Deutsche Bank. Through Creditas, Sergio plans to continue tackling the challenge of educating Brazilian borrowers and making secure loans mainstream. Achmad Zaky is Founder and CEO of Bukalapak, an Indonesian-based technology company with e-commerce marketplace core that aims to empower micro, small and medium sized enterprises. In 1997, Zaky started with a computer given to him by his uncle along with some programming books, which marked the beginning of his love for computer science. While in high school, he had the opportunity to compete nationally at the National Science Olympiad, coming in first place. In 2004, Zaky continued his studies in Information Technology at Institut Teknologi Bandung, where he began his entrepreneurial endeavors. He decided to use the money he earned from winning various competitions to launch a noodle making business. To his dismay, the business failed. While he was initially distressed about his failure, he decided to use the experience as a learning opportunity for his next venture. In 2010, he founded Bukalapak, which has garnered the interest of various investors including 500 Startups and Emtek Group. The company, whose name translates to "open a stall", is relying on a network of over 4 million merchants, 1.6 million family-run store and individual partners to bring positive impact across Indonesia. Now one of Indonesia's few unicorns, Bukalapak plans to continue building out its tech platform and providing SME partners with additional opportunities. Zaky is married to Diajeng Lestari, Founder and CEO of HIjup.com, an e-commerce platform that sells Islamic fashion. Together, they have a daughter.
