19 N A S P E R S AARON RU Aaron Ru is a Venture Investor at Naspers Ventures, where he covers consumer technology including e-commerce, proptech, and blockchain. Prior to Naspers, Aaron worked in the Corporate Business Development and Strategy team at Pinterest. Prior to Pinterest, he worked at United Talent Agency and at UBS Investment Bank. Aaron is a graduate of Harvard Business School and the University of California, Berkeley. N E X T B I L L I O N V C CHRIS SCHROEDER Chris Schroeder is an entrepreneur, advisor and investor in interactive technologies and social media. He is the co-founder and general partner of Next Billion Ventures, which invests in and advises growth stage tech companies in rising markets. Previously, he was the CEO and Publisher of washingtonpost.newsweek interactive and co-founder of the Silicon Valley venture capital backed startup HealthCentral.com. He is a personal investor in disruptive enterprises including Vox Media, Skift, iBotta, Zignal Labs, and Segovia, among others. Chris is author of the recent best seller, and first book on startups in the Arab World, Startup Rising -- The Entrepreneurial Revolution Remaking the Middle East. He co-led the Economic Recovery and Revitalization working group of the Atlantic Council's Middle East Strategy Task Force, co- chaired by Madeleine Albright and Steve Hadley. Chris graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Business School. M 1 2 LISA NELSON As General Manager/Managing Director of M12, Microsoft's Venture Fund, Lisa is an investor focused on enterprise SaaS. Lisa also oversees portfolio development, marketing and operations for M12, and VC Partnerships for Microsoft. Lisa been with Microsoft for several years in a variety of roles across business development and finance. She most recently served as chief of staff for the EVP of Business Development where she helped identify, pursue and support new areas of growth for Microsoft through key strategic partnerships, investments, and M&A. Lisa is a Certified Public Accountant and has a Bachelor in Business Administration – Finance and Statistics from the University of Washington M C K I N S E Y & C O M P A N Y RYAN WILBER Ryan is an experienced healthcare operations and strategy professional with ten years experience working in clinical operations and digital health. His first encounter with healthcare was as a staffer in the US Senate during the passage of the Affordable Care Act. He then joined The Advisory Board Company's Clinical Operations Board, where he led research focused on global best practices for improving access, growth, care quality, and patient experience. From there he worked as a strategy and implementation consultant, first with a boutique healthcare consulting firm, Huron Consulting Group, and then as an Implementation Coach with McKinsey and Company's healthcare practice. For the past two years he has operated as an independent consultant and advisor to hospitals, health systems, healthcare start ups, and a healthcare- focused venture fund.
