49 49 Toters Tamim Khalfa Toters, a digital and logistics company powered by its own advanced technology and fleet provides delivery services to connect and distribute products between merchants and customers. The company has managed to bridge the gap between the consumers who expect new levels of convenience, transparency, and speed, and the traditional merchant who struggles to meet these new service standards. HOW IT ALL STARTED Tamim Khalfa left his home country as a young man to study electrical engineering at McGill University. He remained in Canada to continue his education, earning an MBA from the University of Ottawa in 2010. In 2011, Tamim worked with Booz & Company, where he advised telecom companies on their technology and commercial strategy. He transitioned to a similar role at Oliver Wyman in Dubai three years later - there, he met a fellow Lebanese expat, Nael Halwani (COO). Nael was similarly interested in telecommunications, with over three years of experience working for large operators in the GCC. During their late nights working together, Tamim and Nael often wished they could order delivery from a restaurant and continue their work uninterrupted. There were a few digital ordering platforms in Dubai, but the technology was not yet widespread in the region. During a trip home to Lebanon, Tamim and Nael noticed that the country had even fewer delivery options and the opportunity was too big to ignore.
