Country: Mexico Industry: Transportation / Collaborative Consumption Employees: 11 Executives: Cristina Palacios Goddard Ignacio Cordero Desentis Alberto Padilla Luengas COMPANY Having the mission to provide a sustainable solution to traffic problems, Aventones is a company founded in 2010 that enables and promotes ridesharing as a culture within organizations (companies, universities, government), by offering: - A web-based software that allows their members to find relevant matches according to itinerary and preferences. Each organization has its own online network, which ensures the security and privacy of users and their information. The platform also generates performance reports (saved pollutants, mileage, etc.). - Implementation strategy that consists of a communication campaign and an incentive plan for outstanding users, both created according to the policies, needs and possibilities of each organization. With Aventones, users save resources, have a more efficient use of their cars, social interactions and help reducing car traffic. Revenue (US$ M) REVENUE MODEL The business model of Aventones consists in offering our service to organizations as a license that is renewed annually. This includes adapting a private network for each client and creating the implementation and support strategies to boost a ridesharing culture and changes in transportation habits. A constant monitoring activity between Aventones and our customers is one of the most important aspects of differentiation. On the other hand, organizations are not limited to a number of users, routes or activity in general. The price of the license is integrated by a set up fee of $4,000 (unique payment) and monthly payments that range from $800 to $2,000 according to the number of potential users in the organization SERVICE Our service includes: Unlimited number of profiles Implementation Strategy: • Communication campaign • Training and awareness sessions • Design of an incentive plan for outstanding users • Additional incentives and rewards based on score in shared journeys. Statistics and reports Media exposure Tech support MARKET Our target customers are FORTUNE 500 organizations with concentrations of more than 250 people in one place. Two years after having started our marketing efforts, we have generated revenue from closing 40 large companies, and have already obtained results in Mexico and Chile from the following organizations: COSTCO / KPMG / MetLife / AXA / DuPont / Deacero / SCA / Grupo Modelo / Walmart / Infonavit / Government of Mexico City / Aventones represents an opportunity for organizations such as those mentioned because: 1) They are constantly looking for new methods of integration for their members, 2) They want to actively participate in the solution to traffic, 3) They want to lower their expenses related to parking and transportation of their members. In the 1st year of operations we introduced our services in the Mexican market, and in the 2nd year we replicated it in Chile. By 2013 we plan to expand our service to Argentina and Colombia, and in 2014 to Brazil. All these countries share complex traffic and environmental problems. COMPETITION There are public networks (Amovens, Mitfahrgelegenheit) and private (Zimride, Carpoolworld) in other countries that do not represent a solution for Latin American needs which are: 1) Safety, 2) intensive efforts to promote car sharing as a culture. In the last year, new companies that emulate Aventones have emerged in LatAm. They have managed to work with a few organizations and are still working out their service validation COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES The aspects that differentiate Aventones are the following: • Culture creation: In a society where car sharing is not a common practice, is critical to to motivate and encourage users. • Security: Because our customers demand reliability, our service meets the highest requirements of security in Internet applications. • Know-how: Experience has allowed us to implement and operate our services in a very agile manner • Positioning: As the first service of this nature in the Mexican market, we are positioned as a benchmark of Good Practices. MANAGEMENT TEAM Cristina Palacios- CEO: She has experience in business management and market development at companies like Kraft and Scotiabank. Ignacio Cordero- CFO: He has experience in supply chain, added value creation and finance planning at companies like Domecq and more recently at Artículos Higiénicos as Operations director. Alberto Padilla- CTO: He has experience as customer relationships manager, sales manager, corporate innovation and software development. INVESTMENT Aventones is properly capitalized as we have received seed-funding and have been profitable in our 2.5 years of operations.
