With over 15 years of successfully operations and home base in Manaus, the Amazon Sat online and digital television channels show the importance of media outlets in promoting entrepreneurial culture in the region. Since 2009, the group works with the entrepreneurial theme on several fronts, in jour- nalistic content as well as initiatives and programs that aid in finding investors for your company, cre- ated in partnership with the Sebrae AM. During the Global Entrepreneurship Week, for example, all the programs from Amazon Sat's channel grid dealt with the issue of new businesses and innovation for companies in the region — in turn, in some cases, these programs are reused by the local Rede Globo affiliate, which belongs to the same controlling group. Another ambitious initiative that brings con- tent on entrepreneurship to the region is the Portal Amazonia, the most visited northern news channel in the country, operated by Amazon Sat, which pub- lishes entrepreneurial related news daily. tHE CItY's BEst praCtICE CasE In Manaus, almost 60% believe that entrepreneurs are primarily responsible for the development of Brazil — among the highest rates investments in innovation, especially in the public sector: the state spends 1% of its budget in Science & Technology, below the 1.6% average. Building a skilled team in the city can also be difficult, just over 10% of the popu- lation have higher education and the quality of undergraduate courses is at the lowest levels among the ana- lyzed capital — only 12% of universities are enrolled in courses well evaluated in the ENADE, well below the 26% average of the other capital. Finally, Manaus faces logistical isolation: its port and airport have low traffic and, despite being the largest state in Brazil, the Amazon is the one with the least amount of roads — although a lot of the transportation is made by river. Still, only 57% of the population has access to the internet — the average of the analyzed capital is 64% — and the population's average time getting to and from work is only inferior to those of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, much larger cities.
