17 CHRIS ROGERS Lumia Capital United States HARSHUL SANGHI AMEX Ventures United States Chris is a partner at Lumia Capital, an expansion-stage VC partnering with leading tech companies in under-invested emerging markets and forward-thinking US companies targeting these markets to accelerate growth. Previously, he was the co-founder of Nextel Communications (acquired by Sprint for $35 billion) and its two predecessor companies. Chris brings 30 years of mobile industry experience as a founder, advisor, and operator. Most recently, Chris served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Spectrum, at Sprint where he evaluated and executed strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, equity investments and joint ventures within the mobile communication and e-commerce sectors. Harshul is currently the Managing Partner at American Express Ventures. He has a keen sense for the disruption of traditional industries such as media, telco, commerce, and financial services by digital platforms. Harshul has consistently been ranked in the Top 20 Global Corporate Venture Capitalists by Global Corporate Venturing Magazine and has been featured in the Harvard Business Review and The New York Times. He has led investments in and is currently involved with the boards of Bill.com, If Only, Instacart, Intacct, Kiip, Learnvest, Retail Next, Savingstar, and Ness (acquired by Open Table). TOM TERBELL Rise Capital United States LORENA SUAREZ Wayra Argentina Tom is a partner at Rise Capital, a global investment firm that focuses on making expansion-stage investments in Internet businesses in emerging markets. Tom was previously a senior executive at BarnesandNoble.com where he led their eCommerce business across multiple categories, managing a several hundred million dollar P&L and over 1 million SKUs. Earlier in his career Tom was a transactional attorney for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP where he advised on a number of Emerging Market and Internet transactions including the first LBO in India, one of the largest M&A deals in Brazil, and the spin-out of AOL from Time Warner. Tom received his B.A. from Stanford University and his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law. Lorena Suarez is a Country Manager at Wayra Argentina, a start-up accelerator that promotes entrepreneurship and accelerates disruptive start-ups. Lorena has experience in communication, marketing and strategy positioning in the internet market. She holds an MBA (Torcuato Di Tella University), Master of Business Administration (UCA, Catholic University) and a Degree in Economics (UBA, Bs As University).
