Prior to joining VARIV, Jose was the Managing Director of the Mexican chapter of Cognodata, a Spanish consultancy focused on developing mathematical and analytic models to improve the customer strategy of key clients, including a number of top banks, retailers, and telecom companies across the region. VARIV Capital is an investment firm focused on actively creating, developing, and scaling successful and innovative business models. The firm has developed a hybrid model that stands between a traditional VC and a more robust company builder. VARIV has helped entrepreneurs build over 30 companies establishing new tech categories in LatAm. Pat Burtis is a partner in Amadeus´ San Francisco office. He invests in high tech companies globally, with a focus on Latin America and the US. Pat´s sector interests include fintech, edtech, digital media, and cleantech. He currently serves on the Boards of Bidu, Descomplica, and GreenRoad and is an observer at Magnetic. He has also worked closely with Transmode, Tobii, Optos, ClickTale, and GlySure. In 2010-2011, Pat served as interim CFO and CEO at GreenRoad. Pat began his career with five years in Bain & Co´s Boston office. From 1997-2004, Pat was an independent consultant in the cleantech, high tech, health care, and materials fields. Pat holds a BA from Dartmouth College and a Masters of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He is a Kauffman Fellow. Amadeus Capital Partners is a technology VC firm with multiple investment strategies, including a dedicated emerging markets fund. Gonzalo Carrasco Mexico Ventures Mexico Gonzalo Carrasco is a Mezzanine and Venture Capital Associate at Fondo de Fondos. Previously, Gonzalo worked for three years as an investment banking senior analyst at Evercore and GBM Grupo Bursatil Mexicano, where he was involved in several equity and debt public offerings, M&A, and private equity transactions. Gonzalo holds two bachelor´s degrees, one in economics and another one in political science, from ITAM. Currently, he is a 2016 CFA Candidate Level III.
