18 THURSDAY, JULY 14TH MARCELO AMORIM Partner, Jacard Investments Brazil Marcelo Amorim is currently a partner of Jacard Investments, a venture capital firm focused on seed and early stage companies. Since 1995, Amorim has founded four technology companies, which were acquired by US corporations and VC funds. From 1991-1994, Amorim was regional manager of Microsoft where he was in charge of Microsoft's operations in the Northeast Region of Brazil. He also worked in various positions in marketing, sales and technology in companies such as Unisys, Itaú Bank and Fortec. Amorim holds a bachelor's degree in business from Catholic University of São Paulo and a post-laurea in Information Technology in Italy. He currently serves on the board of Smarket Solutions, Axado Technology S/A, Centrix Contact Center and Anjos do Brasil (Brazilian Angels Association) and he is co-author of the book "Innovative Entrepreneurship". RICARDO PROPHETA Managing Partner, BRZ Investments Brazil Ricardo Propheta Marques joined BRZ Investments in 2006 where is currently a Managing Partner and Co-Head of the private equity department. Additionally, he sits on the board of BRZ portfolio companies including Amata, LOGZ Logística Brasil, Magnesita, América Latina Logística, Regina Festas and Brado Logística. Before joining BRZ Investments, he worked at GP Investments (2002-2006) as an associate, as a consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton (2001-2002) and at the banks CCF Brasil and Brascan. Ricardo holds a degree in Production Engineering from Escola Politécnica of the University of São Paulo (USP). CHARLES PUTZ Partner, Rio Bravo Investments Brazil Charles Putz is a Partner at Rio Bravo Investments. He is a seasoned senior executive with experience in large companies including NAMISA, Brasil Telecom, Telefonica Empresas and Telefonica Group in Brazil. He holds a bachelor and graduate degree in business administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and an MBA from IMD Business School. VERONICA SERRA Founder, Pacific Investments Brazil Veronica Allende Serra is the founding partner of Pacific Investments (since 2001) and Innova Capital (2009) and has over 19 years of private and growth equity investments in a variety of sectors in the US and throughout Latin America. Veronica is active in entrepreneurship as a mentor and helped establish numerous companies, including Patagon.com in Brazil. From 1998-2001, Veronica worked for IRR, and prior for Leucadia National Corporation and Goldman Sachs in NY. Veronica is a director of Mercado Libre (MELI: Nasdaq) where she was an early investor. In addition to the boards of her portfolio companies, Veronica sits on the nonprofit boards of Instituto Sidarta and Endeavor Global. Veronica is a member of the HBS Alumni Board, HBS Latam Board, G-50, YPO, and co-founder of the Latin American Start up Challenge.
