10 SAMEER NARULA Managing Partner, August Capital Partners Singapore NICK NASH Group President, Garena Singapore Sameer Narula is a Managing Partner at August Capital Partners. He has 15+ years of operations, planning, management and consulting experience in the US, Europe and Asia. He has decades of entrepreneurial and early stage technology experience globally. He was previously the Founder & CEO of a design and engineering services company for over 7 years and has been engaged as a mentor and investor in Singapore's early stage high-tech ecosystem. Sameer holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from HEC in Paris, during which time he participated in the Chazen exchange program at Columbia Business School in New York. Nick joined Garena in December 2014 after more than a decade with General Atlantic (GA). Nick is a member of the World Economic Forum's Working Group on Local Capital Markets Integration, a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, a member of the Singapore Chapter of the Young President' Organisation (YPO) and a member of the global Kauffman Society. Nick first joined GA in 2002 in New York and moved to Singapore in 2011 to co-found the firm's ASEAN office. Prior to GA, Nick was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in New York. During college and graduate school, he also worked at Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Lenovo, and IBM. He received an MBA from Stanford University and his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. FLORIAN HOPPE Partner, Bain & Compnay Singapore Florian Hoppe is a partner with Bain & Company, based in Singapore. He leads Bain's Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) practice in Southeast Asia and is an expert in the firm's Digital practice. He has more than 12 years of management consulting experience, working with client teams throughout Southeast Asia, Asia-Pacific and the United States to develop actionable and enduring results. Florian primarily advises telecom and technology clients on topics related to the mobile ecosystem, long-term strategy, customer growth strategy, organizational challenges and transformation programs. He is also actively involved with Bain's social impact efforts across Southeast Asia, in particular Bain's enduring support for Endeavor. ALEXIS HOROWITZ-BURDICK Founder & CEO, Luxola Singapore Alexis founded Luxola in 2011, with the vision to bring the best beauty brands in the world to Southeast Asia, through a trusted, educational and easy-to-use e-commerce platform. In 2015 the platform, which had expanded to 12 markets and carried over 200 brands, was acquired by LVMH. Prior to Luxola, Alexis founded The Sweet Spot, a high-end group-buying site focused on the Singapore market (acquired by JigoCity in July 2011). An entrepreneur at heart, she was a founding team member of Frontier Strategy Group (backed by Spark Capital), a Washington D.C. based subscription consulting firm, and was responsible for starting and building their Asia operations from 2008 – 2010. Alexis holds a M.A. in Political Science from San Francisco State University and a B.A. in Political Science from California State University San Marcos.
