The software, technology, and information services sectors are some of the most exciting and dynamic in the Miami economy. Characterized by a convergence of large tech giants like Facebook and Google who are establishing LatAm headquarters in Miami 10 , and smaller, versatile startups (Miami averaged 247.6 startups per 100,000 people 11 ) targeting the US and other global markets, Miami is poised to join other thriving entrepreneurial ecosystems in terms of startup and tech culture. The dynamism of Miami's tech economy is also evidenced by an increasing number of events held at different co-working spaces, such as Brainfood w/ Endeavor at The LAB, as well as by the emergence of tech companies like .CO (acquired by Neustar), that have stayed in Miami and continue to use it as their launchpad into the U.S. and global markets. SOFTWARE, TECH & IT Citizen • Kairos • LearnerNation • Leapfactor • NovoPayment • Yandiki • SkyPatrol • EveryMundo KEY TREND: "The major trends [in tech] are [the ones that are leveraging] mobility and social media. Social media penetration in the U.S. is at 65% and in Latin America it is 90%. There is a reason why groups like Twitter and Facebook [have opened] an office [in Miami]- because more than 25% of their subscribers are in Latin America. It only makes sense for Miami to serve as the hub where these trends become a conversation." 12 7 2015/2016
