HEALTHCARE AND MEDTECH
The healthcare industry is a perennial driver
of the Miami economy. According to a Beacon
Council study, 3 of the top 10 major private
employers in Miami were healthcare providers,
accounting for over a third of the employment
estimates in that range. Historically, Miami
has been a center for healthcare services,
and with its proximity to Latin America, the
opportunity for designing and innovating
healthcare technology that has a global impact
is significant. Miami has the second highest
concentration of healthcare providers in the
country that tap into South Florida's strong
network of universities and hospitals. This is
promising for strong growth in both traditional
and cutting edge healthcare products and care.
Through its threads for threads™ initiative, for every
set of scrubs sold, FIGS gives a set to a healthcare
provider in need. To date, FIGS has donated over 90,000
sets of scrubs in 26 countries through this program.
Clean scrubs reduce hospital-acquired infection rates
by 66%, so these donations make a huge impact!
