17 MATT SLOTNICK Norwest Venture Partners United States EMMALYN SHAW Omidyar Network United States PATRICK SAGISI DBL Partners United States Matt focuses on early to late stage venture investments across a wide range of sectors at Norwest, with an emphasis on the enterprise and infrastructure spaces, including cloud, security, big data, networking, and SaaS applications. He is actively involved with Norwest's investments in Agari, CognitiveScale, Dtex Systems, Engagio, Qubole, and Rallyteam. Prior to joining Norwest, Matt was an investment banking analyst at Shea & Company in Boston. In this role, he advised a broad range of private and public technology companies on mergers and acquisitions, equity capital raises, debt financings, and other business development opportunities, with a focus on the software sector. Matt holds a BA from Boston College with a double major in economics and German. Emmalyn leads Omidyar Network's Investment Management team's effort in the evaluation and selection of all emerging tech and financial inclusion investments and subsequent portfolio management. Emmalyn came to Omidyar Network with 16 years of venture experience with early and late stage investment success across funds ranging from $200M to $2.6B in size and experience in investment banking and software product management. Prior to joining the firm, she spent eight years as a venture partner at Oak Investment Partners in Silicon Valley. Before Oak, Emmalyn spent eight years in venture capital at VantagePoint Venture Partners and The Barksdale Group focused on enterprise software and consumer Internet. Earlier, Emmalyn was a banker in Morgan Stanley's Corporate Finance Technology group, and she began her career as a product manager for MSCI Barra, a leading portfolio analytics software company. Patrick is an Asso ciate at DBL Part ners and a Kauff man Fel low. Patrick sources and per forms dili gence on invest ment oppor tu ni ties, advises port fo lio com pany man age ment, and helps port fo lio com pa nies imple ment their dou ble bot tom line prac tices. Patrick has over 15 years of global expe ri ence in prod uct man age ment, new prod uct devel op ment, mar ket- ing, strat egy, oper a tions, and sales. Prior to DBL, Patrick was at Sam sung Elec tron ics in Seoul, South Korea. Patrick received his MBA and MS- Engineering degrees from Stan ford Uni ver sity, and has a B.S. dual- degree in Elec tri cal Engineering/ Computer Sci ence and Mate ri als Sci ence from UC Berke ley. TOM TERBELL Rise Capital United States Tom is a partner at Rise Capital, a global investment firm that focuses on making expansion- stage investments in Internet businesses in emerging markets. Tom was previously a senior executive at BarnesandNoble.com where he led their e-commerce business across multiple categories, managing a several hundred million dollar P&L and over 1M SKUs. Earlier in his career, Tom was a transactional attorney for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he advised on a number of emerging market and Internet transactions including the first LBO in India, one of the largest M&A deals in Brazil, and the spin-out of AOL from Time Warner. Tom received his BA from Stanford University and his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law.
