EASTWOOD SCHOOLS NEWLY SELECTED ENTREPRENEURS Eastwood Schools is a collection of K-12 private IB World schools that utilize tech-enabled learning methodologies to modernize education and improve engagement amongst students in the GCC. As the first school in Lebanon and in the GCC with a fully integrated Apple iPad Program, all course content is accessed on iPads and delivered through the school's dedicated Apple iTunes U page. With its flipped-classroom model, students learn the material at home and engage in personalized learning through collaborative projects and discussion-based classes. Eastwood Schools adopt a coding and mindfulness approach to create a 21 st century learning environment. HOW IT ALL STARTED While completing his master's degree at Columbia University in International Educational Development in Finance and Planning, Michel recognized the potential for technology to improve the Lebanese education sector. He decided to integrate it into Eastwood International which his father, Amine Khoury, founded in 1973. Back in Lebanon, Michel modernized the educational system at Eastwood Schools by replacing books with iPads for a more dynamic and engaging teaching method. He then achieved accreditations with the IB Diploma Program and partnered with Apple, Harvard, Columbia and the Central Bank of Lebanon that enabled Eastwood Schools to become the first group of K-12 schools in the Middle East with fully integrated coding, mindfulness and leadership programs for children.
