15 SCOTT SOBEL Valor Capital Group United States PEDRO TORRES-MACKIE Quotidian Ventures United States JEFF WEINSTEIN FJ Labs United States Scott Sobel, Co-founder & Managing Partner of Valor Capital Group, was part of the founding team of the pioneer Internet Telephony company Net2Phone; Scott helped take the company from a piece of software that was first to bridge the PC and the Public Switch Telephony Network to acquiring millions of users, generating over $200M in revenue, an IPO (1999) and the strategic sale of the company to AT&T for $1.4 Billion (2000). Scott went on to hold executives positions in Symbol Technologies working with the Mobile Computing and Wireless Divisions and NCR Corporation based in Singapore responsible for Corporate Development and later the P&L for the Financial Line of Business in the Emerging Markets. Scott was fortunate to be in a position to bring his skill sets, passions, and experiences to support other entrepreneurs in the U.S. and Brazil reach their visions. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University. Pedro Torres-Mackie is the Founder and Managing Director of Quotidian Ventures, and a Research Affiliate at the MIT Design Lab. Pedro started Quotidian in 2010 to invest in passionate entrepreneurs and help them realize their potential to turn great ideas into amazing companies, and has invested in 60+ companies with $1.5B+ in realized exits to date. In 2015, he was selected as part of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in Venture Capital. Jeff Weinstein is a Principal at FJ Labs, an early-stage venture firm that invests in online marketplaces and e-commerce companies. He was previously a Senior Associate at Lux Capital. Outside of work, Jeff is a competitive runner training to run a sub-four minute mile. Jeff holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. JONATHAN WHITTLE Quona Capital United States Jonathan is a founding partner of Quona Capital, a venture capital firm focused on companies leveraging technology to promote financial inclusion for underserved consumers and businesses in emerging markets. Quona manages the Accion Frontier Inclusion Fund, which is sponsored by Accion International, a global leader in inclusive finance. Prior to Quona, Jonathan was co-founder and CEO of Acesso, a leading prepaid financial service provider for the unbanked population in Brazil. Before founding Acesso, Jonathan managed Darby Technology Ventures, a pioneering technology venture capital fund for Latin America. He joined Darby after a decade of experience as a founding member of three large-scale venture capital-backed telecommunications and information technology services companies in Latin America.
