13 T.T. NGUYEN DUC Pearson Affordable Learning Fund United States T.T. Nguyen Duc leads venture capital investments for Pearson Affordable Learning Fund (PALF). She identifies investment opportunities for the fund and provides strategic, financial, and operational expertise to early-stage education companies. Previously, she led strategy, operations, and finance at online education platforms Skillshare and Chegg, and was a management consultant at Oliver Wyman. She co-founded a medical device company while completing her B.S. in Neuroscience and M.S. in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University and a fellowship at Oxford University. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. TOMMY PATEK Bain Capital Ventures United States EKIN OFLAZER Spark Capital United States ALEXANDRE PORTO Riverwood Capital United States Tommy joined Bain Capital Ventures in 2013 and focuses on software and financial services companies. He is based in New York City, but also loves working with entrepreneurs across other regions of the US and abroad. Prior to Bain Capital, Tommy worked at North Bridge, MK Capital, and developed websites in his spare time. Tommy graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with an AB in History. At Dartmouth, he played on the Varsity Football Team and helped lead charitable fundraising for Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Cancer Center. Ekin joined Spark Capital Growth in Fall of 2014 and focuses on evaluating new investment opportunities for the firm, executing live deals and supporting companies in Spark Capital's portfolio. Ekin is based out of Spark Capital's New York City office. Previously, Ekin worked as an investment banker at Credit Suisse, focusing on mergers & acquisitions and equity & debt offerings for the tech, media and telecom sectors. In his free time, Ekin enjoys playing futbol, cooking and discovering the world of code. Ekin graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Economics. Alexandre Porto is a Vice President at Riverwood Capital. Prior to joining Riverwood, Alex was an Associate at Augusta Columbia Capital, a technology-focused private equity group, where he focused on identifying and evaluating investment opportunities across the technology sector. Prior to Augusta Columbia, he was an Analyst in the Technology Group at Harris Williams & Co., where he focused on M&A advisory for software and services companies. Alex graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government.
