ENDEAVOR IMPACT REPORT 2011 – 2012 OMIDYAR NETWORK & ENDEAVOR In 2008, Endeavor developed a partnership with Omidyar Network, the philanthropic investment firm established by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife Pam. This partnership came at a critical time in Endeavor's evolution — Endeavor was looking to expand its global footprint but lacked the necessary capital to do so. At the same time, impact investor Omidyar Network under- stood the value of high-impact entrepreneurship to enabling social change. This shared focus led the firm to invest usd $10 million in Endeavor to back its expansion plans in emerging markets. Omidyar Network's support extended beyond just financial capital. At the heart of the firm's investment approach is the belief that human capital can be as valuable as financial capital in helping organizations scale their impact. Omidyar Network and Endeavor engaged in a collaborative process to evaluate Endeavor's business strategy, leadership team, and operations, resulting in several significant changes to help position Endeavor for greater success. Omidyar Network led a thorough head- hunting process for executives, and Endeavor soon brought on three senior team members with an OMIDYAR & ENDEAVOR Omidyar Network Managing Partner Matt Bannick 14 impressive combination of entrepreneurial, diplomatic, and corporate experience. A satellite office in California came shortly after, allowing Endeavor to grow its network in Silicon Valley and recruit six California-based board members. The California board members and network quickly became a powerful resource for Endeavor Entrepreneurs looking to make connections in Silicon Valley.
