FAC E S O F I M PAC T Wences Casares was born on a sheep farm in Patagonia, the son of a rancher. "e biggest impact my father had on me was showing me how to be a doer," Wences says. "Living in the middle of nowhere, we constantly had to come up with creative ways of solving problems, like digging trenches or building bridges on the side of a mountain." One of the first entrepreneurs selected by Endeavor, Wences was operating his nascent e-trading platform, Patagon.com, from his apartment kitchen in Buenos Aires. Two years later, he sold the business to Banco Santander for $750 million. e news electrified young entrepreneurs across the region. "If Wences can do it, I can do it too," they said. Since then, Wences has been involved in a number of successful ventures. Today Wences is renowned as a successful international fintech entrepreneur and a next-generation payments and bitcoin thought leader with his company Xapo. Even more important, Wences turned his attention to helping others, serving as a top mentor, investor, and board member for the Endeavor network, paying it forward to the next generation of entrepreneurs and serving as a true role model. "Endeavor is the way of bottling the best know-how of the business world, and bringing it to parts of the world where it's not reaching currently," Wences says.
