K E N YA L E B A N O N ENDE AVOR K ENYA launched in February 2017 as the first-ever Endeavor affiliate in Sub-Saharan Africa. As the largest job creators in emerging economies like Kenya, scaleups need access to the sort of services Endeavor works to provide, promoting the right mix of talent, funding and networks to accelerate high-impact entrepreneurship that can transform the region. Off to a strong start, Endeavor Kenya has already selected two companies. x CELLUL ANT, founded by Ken Njoroge, was selected at the 73rd International Selection Panel held in Beirut in July 2017. Cellulant is Africa's leading payments ecosystem, con- necting merchants, banks and mobile operators with their increasingly mobile customers through its elec- tronic payment services. T WIGA , founded by Grant Brooke, is a mobile-based supply platform for Africa's retail outlets, kiosks, and market stalls. Twiga allows grocers to access better quality products at lower prices delivered directly to their shop, completely replacing informal markets by giving vendors simple mobile-based ordering platforms to purchase their stock and providing farm- ers with predictable pricing for their crops. Twiga was selected at the 74th International Selection Panel in Brooklyn, New York, in September 2017. p BLE SSING , a chocolate and luxury gift company founded by Rima Koteich El-Husseini and Rana Koteich Najjar, custom- ized the baby souvenirs for celebrity couple Amal and George Clooney's twins born in June 2017. BAND INDUSTRIE S , a music technology company founded by Hassane Slaibi and Bassam Jalgha that aims to build a tech-enabled toolkit for 21st century musicians, successfully closed a Kickstarter campaign in May 2017 with more than 1000% of their goal secured. With 4,741 supporters pledging more than $500,000 to bring the Roadie 2 and Roadie Bass automatic instrument tuners to life, the campaign was the most crowd-funded in the guitar accessory space. ELCIR , a company led by Jean-Marc Ingea which manufactures and installs woodwork and furniture, was chosen to design and construct the wood and glass doors for Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar, where the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held. ANGHA MI , the leading music streaming platform in the MENA region, reached a milestone of 30 million mobile app downloads in 2016. In December 2016, found- ers Elie Habib and Eddy Maroun also raised their third successful round of capital, with support from Endeavor Catalyst. entrepreneurs 3 entrepreneurs 34 Companies 3 Companies 27 Flag Flag Founded 2011 Founded 2011 n e w i n 2 017 !
