14 NADIM MATUK Liil Ventures Mexico VERNE LIZANO Liil Ventures Mexico Nadim Matuk is an Investment Associate at Liil Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on compelling opportunities in smart city, smart energy and new mobility. Nadim is also founder & CEO of Kokonut Studio in Mexico and previously served as Design Manager at Synergy Elements. He graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México and the Parsons School of Design. In his practice and integrative thinking, Nadim helps individuals and businesses to develop successful solutions through design thinking strategies. Nadim brings valuable experience to Liil Ventures' integration with startups, recognizing value, potential, and means for growth for its investments. Verne Lizano is the Managing Director of Liil Ventures and CIO of Grupo ADO. While leading Grupo ADO's technology department, Verne has gained valuable experience in mobility platforms for the masses, as well as a deep understanding of the evolution of mobility technology. Verne received his BSc in Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica and his MS in Business Administration from ESSEC Business School. ETTORE LEALE Xplorer Capital United States CHRISTINA LI Omidyar Network United States Ettore is a founding managing partner at Xplorer Capital, a growth equity firm dedicated to investing in online media and internet enabled businesses across emerging markets. Previously he built and managed Yahoo's search marketing business in sixteen countries. In this capacity, Ettore formulated and executed overall growth strategies for Yahoo's fastest growing markets which included numerous acquisitions and minority investments in Latin America, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, India, Middle East and Africa. Prior to Yahoo, Ettore served in executive roles for Silicon Valley based venture-backed internet and technology companies, including Digital Impact where he led corporate development, acquisitions and led key aspects of the company IPO. Earlier in his career, Ettore served for the International Red Cross where he managed mass feeding programs for besieged populations in the war zones of the former Yugoslavia. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics and International Affairs from American University. Christina is on the investment team at Omidyar Network, where she is responsible for sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management within the Emerging Tech team. Prior to joining Omidyar Network, Christina was in Goldman Sachs' investment banking division, where she advised Fortune 500 and private companies on corporate development, M&A, and debt and equity financings. Christina started her career in Goldman Sachs' operations division, where she planned and executed change programs relating to the design of technological systems and processes supporting the sales and trading business. Christina graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.B.A. from the Ross School of Business, a B.A. in political science, and a minor in development economics.
