SERGIO FOGEL
Uruguay, dLocal / Astropay
I am an engineer at heart. When I was younger, I loved to hack, in the sense of finding the
small change to a system that made a huge impact. Today I can hardly write a line of code,
but I still do the same: finding the small changes that make big differences, but instead of
changing a program, I try to make changes to the complex world that surrounds us.
I am multi-cultural, which is a nice way to say that I feel comfortable in many places, but I
don't really belong anywhere.
I have started a few companies, and invested in many others. Most of my time is devoted to the effort of making dLocal
into a unicorn. I am convinced we'll get there soon enough. The rest of my time is devoted to whatever is next. I am most
excited about a great startup I invested in, led by a female CEO.
If I could spend the rest of my life solving one problem, it would be improving education in my country. I have yet to find
the small change that does the trick.
I am relentless in my pursuit of losing weight. I keep failing, miserably.
Oh, and I co-organized Punta Tech Meetup in Punta del Este, Uruguay. For the last 9 years, I said this was the last one.
You are all invited to the 2019 edition. You don't want to miss it, it may well be the last one. Really.
